Assisted living communities serve individuals who typically need help with everyday activities and some health care services but do not require 24-hour skilled nursing care services for extended periods of time. These communities offer a unique mix of companionship, independence, privacy, and security in a home-like setting. National Assisted Living Week encourages assisted living communities around the country to offer a variety of events and activities to celebrate the individuals they serve, as well as to educate the public about this aspect of long-term care.
Your skin is your body’s largest organ, so it’s not a surprise that skin cancer is the most common kind of cancer, with about 3.5 million cases of basal and squamous cell skin cancer diagnosed in the United States each year. According to the Skin Care Foundation, more people are diagnosed with skin cancer each year in the U.S. than all other cancers combined. Sun damage is a serious concern. It is important to take the correct precautions when going out into the sun because ultraviolet radiation (UV) exposure can damage your skin.
National Wellness Month focuses on self-care, managing stress, and promoting healthy routines. Research has shown self-care helps manage stress and promotes happiness. Our wonderful staff received these gifts from two of our resident’s families. We would like to thank them and many of the others who have kept all our residents and staff in their thoughts during this difficult time. We thank you for all the kind words and thoughtful gifts.
This week has brought wonderful weather. Some of our residents have taken this to their advantage, and have been enjoying the weather sitting outside. Our residents enjoyed time outside bird watching, basking in the sun and playing trivia. We are taking all precautions and making sure to keep proper social distance to allow our residents to enjoy fresh air with others.
